AWARD APPLICATIONS
- Alumni
Distinguished Service Award - The highest honor to an individual member
of the Fraternity. The award may be given not only for fraternity
service, but also in recognition of extraordinary achievement by a man
in his life work, and/or in service to university, country, and humanity. Very
few men have received this award and it is not necessarily presented each
year.
- Athlete
of the Year Award - The recipient is selected from undergraduate AKLs
who participate in intercollegiate athletics. The athlete with the
most outstanding personal record in his respective sport will be selected.
- Clarence
E. Brehm Award - Created in 1982 in honor of Clarence E. Brehm (Iota
`32), a leader in the oil industry and loyal supporter of his chapter. Presented
to the individual collegiate member who has illustrated superior abilities
in leadership. This award is based both on performance within the
Fraternity and participation in campus activities.
- Chapter
Advisor Award - Presented to the individual who consistently fulfills
all obligations of a Chapter Advisor. This award was created to recognize
volunteers who rise above the call of duty and guide the chapter effectively
toward fulfilling the Fraternity standards and expectations.
- Community
Service Award - Chapters which illustrate concern for the promotion
of human welfare and the surrounding community are eligible for this award. The
award is in recognition of quality, interactive philanthropic programming
with the community.
- Founders'
Award - For outstanding performance in all categories, this prestigious
award is presented to Alpha Kappa Lambda’s most outstanding chapter
in all areas of performance. Consideration of rush, financial management,
campus leadership, scholarship and community service are but a few of the
areas examined in determining the recipient.
- Holmes
Award - Established in 1954, this award is named in honor of Brothers
Fred Gooding Holmes (Alpha `15) and Fred Weber Holmes (Alpha `38), both
of whom lost their lives in a boating accident. Each chapter may
nominate one senior member for this honor which is presented to the man
considered by the judges to be the Fraternity’s “most outstanding
undergraduate member”.
