The Fraternity of Alpha Kappa Lambda

Start an Alumni Chapter

A brother is as important to the Fraternity of Alpha Kappa Lambda when he is an alumnus as when he was an undergraduate.  After a member graduates, he has a chance to continue his experience either by participating with a chapter corporation or joining an Alumni Chapter.

An alumni chapter of Alpha Kappa Lambda is a chartered group based on a geographic region. Specific chapter affiliation is not considered in membership but you must be a member of Alpha Kappa Lambda to join.  The following are requirements to receive a charter as an alumni chapter and to continue being recognized as a chapter in good standing:

  • Meet at least twice a year.
  • Consist of at least 5 members.
  • Have at least one officer.
  • Have a written set of Bylaws agreed upon by members.
  • Paid an annual fee of $200 by June 1st.
  • Incorporated in the state of operation as a 501(c)7

An alumni chapter in good standing with the National Fraternity is provided voice and one (1) vote at Conclave and in any mail ballot.

You can access an Alumni Chapter Manual by clicking here.  You can email nhq@akl.org if you would like more information and help in starting an alumni chapter in your area.
